Continuing the story told in Mario Puzo’s original novel, Part II tells the story of Michael Corleone’s rise as the Don of the Corleone family in the 1950s while also flashing back to Vito Corleone’s rise in the 1910s.
But, as audiences discover once they start watching, it is also a prequel. One of the more unique examples of a prequel movie, The Godfather Part II is, as its title implies, a sequel.
